Fight hunger… and have fun while you’re at it.
Now in its third year, annual charity event “Hunger is No Joke” returns to Arlington’s Cafe Asia tomorrow, Friday, April 5. Hosted by the Arlington Food Assistance Center’s Young Professionals (AFAC-YP) group, “Hunger is No Joke” is a fundraising party to feed those who far too often go without food. The event is geared toward professionals in their 20s and 30s who are looking to positively impact their community while connecting with other socially responsible young people.
Guests will be treated to two free drinks, complimentary appetizers from 8-10 p.m., cash prizes and live music by NoVA rock band Over The Line. All proceeds will go to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), which feeds over 1,500 Arlington families every week. Advance tickets are $25 for one, $45 for two. Prices will go up at the door.
Looking for other ways to get involved? Head to the Giant grocery store on Washington Blvd. in Arlington between 3 and 7 p.m. on April 12 or between noon and 4 p.m. on April 13 and 14; the AFAC-YP crew will be accepting groceries for its quarterly food drive. The group also meets regularly to bag groceries and distribute food to families.
April 5, 8 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
